This Thanksgiving, Let’s Say ‘No Thanks’ to the Tyranny of the American Police State

Thanksgiving is not what it once was.

Then again, America is not what she once was.

Americans have become so enthralled by the “bread and circuses” of our age—tables groaning under the weight of an abundance of rich foods, televisions tuned to sports and entertainments spectacles, stores competing for Black Friday shoppers, and a general devotion to excess and revelry—that we have lost sight of the true purpose of Thanksgiving.

Indeed, the following is a lesson in how far we have traveled—and how low we have fallen—in the more than 200 years since George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation, calling upon the nation to give thanks for a government whose purpose was ensuring the safety and happiness of its people and for a Constitution designed to safeguard civil and religious liberty.

This Thanksgiving finds us saddled with a government that is a far cry from Washington’s vision of a government that would be a blessing to all the people:

• governed by wise, just and constitutional laws
• faithfully executed and obeyed by its agents
• assisting foreign nations with good government, peace, and concord
• promoting true religion, virtue and science
• and enabling temporal prosperity.

Instead, as the following shows, the U.S. government has become a warring empire, governed by laws that are rash, unjust and unconstitutional, policed by government agents who are corrupt, hypocritical and abusive, a menace to its own people, and the antithesis of everything for which Washington hoped.

George Washington didn’t intend Thanksgiving to be a day for offering up glib platitudes that require no thought, no effort and no sacrifice. He wanted it to be a day of contemplation, in which we frankly assessed our shortcomings, acknowledged our wrongdoings, and resolved to be a better, more peaceable nation in the year to come.

It is in that true spirit of Thanksgiving that I offer the following list of things for which I’m not thankful about the American police state.

The U.S. has become a corporate oligarchy. As a Princeton University survey indicates, our elected officials, especially those in the nation’s capital, represent the interests of the rich and powerful rather than the average citizen. We are no longer a representative republic. As such, the citizenry has little if any impact on the policies of government. There are131 lobbyists to every Senator, reinforcing concerns that the government represents the corporate elite rather than the citizenry.

Americans are being jailed for profit. Imprisoning Americans in private prisons and jails run by mega-corporations has turned into a cash cow for big business, with states agreeing to maintain a 90% occupancy rate in privately run prisons for at least 20 years. And how do you keep the prisons full? By passing laws aimed at increasing the prison population, including the imposition of life sentences on people who commit minor or nonviolent crimes such as siphoning gasoline. Little surprise, then, that the United States has 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prisoners. The government’s tendency towards militarization and overcriminalization, in which routine, everyday behaviors become targets of regulation and prohibition, have resulted in Americans getting arrested for making and selling unpasteurized goat cheese, cultivating certain types of orchids, feeding a whale, holding Bible studies in their homes, and picking their kids up from school.

Endless wars have resulted in a battlefield mindset that is infecting the nation.  The Departments of Justice, Homeland Security (DHS) and Defense have passed off billions of dollars worth of military equipment to local police forces. Even EMS crews and fire fighters are being “gifted” with military tanks, Kevlar helmets and ballistic vests. Police agencies have been trained in the fine art of war. It has become second nature for local police to look and act like soldiers. Communities have become acclimated to the presence of militarized police patrolling their streets. Americans have been taught compliance at the end of a police gun or taser. Lower income neighborhoods have been transformed into war zones. Hundreds if not thousands of unarmed Americans have lost their lives at the hands of police who shoot first and ask questions later. And a whole generation of young Americans has learned to march in lockstep with the government’s dictates.

Militarized police, shootings of unarmed citizens, SWAT team raids, misconduct and qualified immunity have transformed the U.S. into a police state.  What we must contend with today is the danger of having a standing army (which is what police forces, increasingly made up of individuals with military backgrounds and/or training, have evolved into) that has been trained to view the citizenry as little more than potential suspects, combatants and insurgents. Despite propaganda to the contrary, it is estimated that U.S. police kill more people in days than other countries do in years. On an average day in America, at least 100 Americans have their homes raided by SWAT teams (although I’ve seen estimates as high as 300 a day), which are increasingly used to deal with routine police matters: angry dogs, domestic disputes, search warrants, etc. Every five days a police officer somewhere in America engages in sexual abuse or misconduct.

The barrier between public and private property has been done away with. Call it what you will—taxes, penalties, fees, fines, regulations, tariffs, tickets, permits, surcharges, tolls, asset forfeitures, foreclosures, etc.—but the only word that truly describes the constant bilking of the American taxpayer by the government and its corporate partners is theft. What Americans don’t seem to comprehend is that if the government can arbitrarily take away your property, without your having much say about it, you have no true rights and no real property. In this way, the police state with all of its trappings—from surveillance cameras, militarized police, SWAT team raids, truancy and zero tolerance policies, asset forfeiture laws, privatized prisons and red light cameras to Sting Ray devices, fusion centers, drones, black boxes, hollow-point bullets, detention centers, speed traps and abundance of laws criminalizing otherwise legitimate conduct—has become little more than a front for a high-dollar covert operation aimed at laundering as much money as possible through government agencies and into the bank accounts of the corporate oligarchy that rule over us.

The technologically-driven surveillance state has become the fourth branch of government. This fourth branch—the NSA, CIA, FBI, DHS, etc.—came into being without any electoral mandate or constitutional referendum, and yet it possesses superpowers, above and beyond those of any other government agency save the military. It is all-knowing, all-seeing and all-powerful. It operates beyond the reach of the president, Congress and the courts, and it marches in lockstep with the corporate elite who really call the shots in Washington, DC. This age of technological tyranny has been made possible by government secrets, government lies, government spies and their corporate ties. Beware of what you say, what you read, what you write, where you go, and with whom you communicate, because it will all be recorded, stored and used against you eventually, at a time and place of the government’s choosing. Privacy, as we have known it, is dead. The police state is about to pass off the baton to the surveillance state.

The schools, modeled after quasi-prisons, are churning out future compliant citizens. Within America’s public schools can be found almost every aspect of the American police state that plagues those of us on the “outside”: metal detectors, surveillance cameras, militarized police, drug-sniffing dogs, tasers, cyber-surveillance, random searches, senseless arrests, jail time, the list goes on. Whether it takes the form of draconian zero tolerance policies, overreaching anti-bullying statutes, police officers charged with tasering and arresting so-called unruly children, standardized testing with its emphasis on rote answers, political correctness, or the extensive surveillance systems cropping up in schools all over the country, young people in America are first in line to be indoctrinated into compliant citizens of the new American police state.

The courts have become courts of order in an age of government-sanctioned tyranny. With every ruling handed down by the courts, it becomes more apparent that we live in an age of hollow justice, with government courts, largely lacking in vision and scope, rendering narrow rulings that have nothing to do with true justice. This is true at all levels of the judiciary, but especially so in the highest court of the land, the U.S. Supreme Court, which is seemingly more concerned with establishing order and protecting government agents than with upholding the rights enshrined in the Constitution. Given the turbulence of our age, with its police overreach, military training drills on American soil, domestic surveillance, SWAT team raids, asset forfeiture, wrongful convictions, and corporate corruption, the need for a guardian of the people’s rights has never been greater. Yet when presented with an opportunity to weigh in on these issues, what does our current Supreme Court usually do? It ducks. Prevaricates. Remains silent. Speaks to the narrowest possible concern. More often than not, it gives the government and its corporate sponsors the benefit of the doubt. Rarely do the concerns of the populace prevail.

As I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, these are abuses that no American should tolerate from its government, and yet not only do we tolerate them, but we help to advance them by supporting meaningless elections, allowing ourselves to be divided by partisan politics, and failing to hold the government accountable to abiding by the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution.

Mark my words: if we do not push back against the menace of the police state now, if we fail to hold onto the Constitution and our constitutional republic, and if we allow the government to remain the greatest threat to our freedoms, then future Thanksgivings will find us paying the price with tyranny at home and anarchy throughout the world.

U.S. Senate Passes Bill Approving Mandatory Vaccinations for Veterans

Fundamentally, biological warfare is sneaky. It involves a microbial sucker punch to its intended target, often accomplished in a manner in which the aggressor can claim clean hands, while his victim may suffer or die.

Biological warfare can take a number of forms. The question—how can you get a bacteriological or toxic agent on board without the target being alerted—has been asked and answered. In addition to using humans and animals as vectors, biological warfare agents can be airborne, waterborne, foodborne or put into pharmaceuticals.

Substantial concerns have been voiced concerning the potential for inserting bioweapons into vaccines. Indeed, given the history of known contaminated vaccines, this is hardly a matter of speculation. Polio vaccines have been found to contain cancer. A Merck rotavirus vaccine was found to be contaminated with a pig virus. Another Merck product, the Hepatitis B vaccine, was reported to have been laced with the AIDS virus. In addition, a tetanus vaccine distributed in the third world was found to contain human chorionic gonadotrophin, an anti-fertility agent known to produce spontaneous abortions.

The correlation between the rise in vaccinations of children and autism has become an urban legend.

A Bill has just passed the U.S. Senate, mandating that the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs ensure that all veterans receive immunizations (vaccines) per a draconian schedule. At this juncture, active military must receive over a dozen vaccines. This piece of legislation is therefore an effort to extend the vaccine mandate to those who have previously served their country.

Sec. 101 of Senate Bill 1203, named the 21st Century Veterans Benefits Delivery Act, states that the Department of Veterans Affairs will be tasked with the mandate to…

ensure that veterans receiving medical services under chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code, receive each immunization on the recommended adult immunization schedule at the time such immunization is indicated on that schedule.

The schedule referred to above is frankly staggering. Over 90 vaccines are listed.

The issues here are legion. First of all, an entire group of individuals, those who at one time were in military service, will lose their inherent right to opt out of receiving what is considered prophylactic treatment. According to Anita Stewart, who served in the Air Force and now hosts Wise Women Media radio show, “This could include experimental vaccines or vaccines that have not been tested.”

It is believed that those who refuse will, under this Bill, lose their medical benefits.

Second, there is the issue of the sheer numbers of allegedly preventative immunizations required on this schedule. As anyone who has come down with a case of the flu due to taking a flu shot might realize, the numbers of immunizations on the required schedule could be enough to sicken anyone.

And herein lurks the question of vaccine safety. Flu vaccines have been known to cause Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which is a neurological disorder wherein a person’s own immune system attacks the nerve cells and can cause paralysis. Gulf War Syndrome, which may manifest with such symptoms as rash, severe fatigue, muscle and joint pain, headache, irritability, depression, gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders and neurological cognitive defects, is thought by some researchers to have been caused by “vaccine overload.”

According to Dr. Mae-Wan Ho and Professor Malcolm Hooper, U.S. Gulf war soldiers received “at least 17 different vaccines, including live vaccines (polio and yellow fever as well as experimental vaccines that had not been approved (anthrax, botulinum toxoid) and were of doubtful efficacy.”

Other researchers have attributed Gulf War Syndrome specifically to the anthrax vaccine given the troops.

In addition, a certain cluster of vaccines have been linked to type one diabetes.  The H1N1 vaccine has been linked to miscarriages and stillbirths. According to this report, the H1N1 shot resulted in sixty times the rate of miscarriage associated with the seasonal flu vaccine.

H1N1 was also found to be linked to a spike in narcolepsy in children. According to this study, there was a four hundred percent increase in the incidence of narcolepsy in those under 20 years of age who received the swine flu vaccine.

It would literally be possible to go on for pages here. The pattern is clear. Vaccine safety is a realistic concern.

In light of the considerable scientific evidence that vaccines cause illness, one must ask what this piece of legislation hopes to attain. Writes Anita Stewart,

Forced mandates are nothing more than medical tyranny… Vaccines in most cases do not cure or protect us, but could make some of us sicker and definitely create a huge and continuing revenue stream for Big Pharma.

There are no studies concerning the effects of these numbers of vaccines on adults. Equally, there are no studies concerning the “polypharmacy” effects of combining these vaccines. Given the increasing scrutiny of civil rights abuses in the U.S., coupled with escalating concerns about what appears to be covert U.S. biological weapons activity in a number of different venues, one might expect that Senate Bill 1203 will result in an upsurge of protest.

Veterans have already served their country. To re-enlist them as lab rats diminishes both the concepts of freedom and democracy and also those who have served to protect these ideals.

Senate Bill 1203 was authored by U.S. Senator Dean Heller, Republican from Nevada. It passed the U.S. Senate on November 10, 2015 and now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.

"The Americans" is a famous commentary by the late Canadian broadcaster Gordon Sinclair. Originally written for a regular broadcast on CFRB radio in Toronto on June 5, 1973, it became a media and public phenomenon. It was replayed several times a day by some United States radio stations and released as a hit audio recording in several forms. Ronald Reagan credited it for giving comfort to the United States in difficult times, and it was widely rediscovered and re-disseminated as the United States faced new crises in the 2000s.

On June 5, Sinclair discussed some stories from the day's news. Widespread heavy tornado damage afflicted the U.S. Midwest. The Mississippi River was in flood stage. The American Red Cross faced an imminent threat of insolvency. And the United States dollar reached very low levels, something Sinclair, an inveterate market watcher, was keenly aware of.

"The Americans" was not, as widely reported later, an angry response to countries that were criticizing the American failure in the Vietnam War. Instead, Sinclair's commentary stated that when many countries faced economic crises or natural disasters, Americans were among the most generous people in the world at offering assistance, but when America faced a crisis, it often faced that crisis alone.

The editorial became a phenomenon on American radio after CKLW Radio news director and news anchor Byron MacGregor read Sinclair's commentary on the air. After CKLW (a 50,000 watt Windsor/Detroit powerhouse radio station) received many requests for it, a record was released by Westbound Records of MacGregor's recording, with "America the Beautiful" being played by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. By January 1974, The Americans record became one of the fastest-selling records in United States, reaching sales of 2 million within a month of its release.[1] The single eventually sold three and a half million copies in the United States, and hit #1 in Cash Box, as well as #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. All proceeds from the record were donated by MacGregor himself to the American Red Cross. (This version reached #42 in Canada.) Sinclair's original recording was released as a record as well, with "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" in the background, and went to #24 on the US record charts. This made the 73-year-old Sinclair the second-oldest living person ever to have a Billboard US Top 40 hit (75-year-old Moms Mabley had a Top 40 hit in 1969 with "Abraham, Martin & John"). The recording hit #30 in the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. Country singer Tex Ritter also released a version of the track, which was issued just weeks after his death in January 1974. Ritter's version of "The Americans (A Canadian's Opinion)" made it to #90 nationally in the US, and #35 on the country charts. It was the last chart hit of Ritter's career.

In 1981, when Ronald Reagan made his first state visit to Canada, he praised both Sinclair and MacGregor as figures who had given the United States an inspiring tribute in one of its darkest hours. MacGregor was also posthumously honored with the National Americanism Award.

"The Americans" performed by Byron MacGregor was widely revived on the Internet, on radio & television and in newspapers in 2001, following the September 11, 2001 attacks, and again in 2005 in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Some revivals of the message incorrectly stated that it was newly written as a direct response to the recent crises; in this question of its authorship alone, the address has become a part of urban legend.

Americans, Do You Get That Your Government Is Inept Yet?

I still can't fathom yet exactly WHY MOST Americans do not see exactly how inept our federal government (and state governments) really is/are! (For an example of MY state government's ineptness please see my post "Maine Passes Law To Follow The US Constitution".)

There are a plethora of examples during the past three administrations alone that show how inept our government is (also how corrupt it is!), that have been reported on by many writers, journalists and bloggers worldwide . But I am writing here today about the most recent example to put my assertion of governmental ineptness into present context, so that it will be seen more relevant to those who pooh-hooh that the US Government is anything less than absolutely correct, competent, having integrity and does the right thing!

 This most recent example being Russia's president, Vladimir Putin's bombing strikes to eradicate terrorist targets in Syria. Why is this an example of our government's ineptness, you may ask? Glad you asked, because here is the answer:
The US Government's agenda in Syria is to remove Assad. But, they don't want to be DIRECTLY responsible for doing so in the WORLD'S view but most importantly, in the American peoples' view. So what do they do but help arm various rebel forces within Syria who are trying to accomplish the same agenda. Even though that means to be arming ISIS/ISIL, the very terrorist group of whom the US government has declared war upon! So naturally, bombing these jihadist groups would be contrary to the US government's agenda and is why the American "War on Terrorism" is taking longer than necessary to be accomplished and why it seems to not be going anywhere! (But also due to the fact that there actually is no "War on Terrorism" anyways!) The ONLY people that the US government are fooling about this situation and their DIRECT involvement and true agenda seems to be the gullible, uninformed and ignorant American sheeple (which seems to be quite allot of them)!

But Putin's, along with Iran's, agenda is the opposite. They want to keep Assad in place. So, they go and bomb the jihadists and guess what? It has them running! Of course it does, as the jihadists don't really want to die, they just want to control things. But that's kinda hard to do when ALL of them are dead. So, they flee the areas that get bombed and thus not only have less members to help them achieve their goals because of the bombings killing them, but have less safe places to be to organize and carry out their missions. Which is doing exactly what the US government states its objectives are and that's to eradicate terrorism! And because of most Americans' ignorance on what their own government's agenda is and what they've actually been doing, Putin can now use this to state propaganda that he (thus Russia) is much smarter and stronger than the US and is accomplishing what the US cannot do...get rid of the terrorists of which the US says they have declared war upon.

When the exact opposite is true. American forces could have (and CAN) within just a matter of days, eliminate these terrorists into oblivion! But then that would mean that they would also have to eliminate Assad as well. And Lord forbid, that the US government be DIRECTLY linked to doing that! Because then, their TRUE agenda will be exposed without a doubt, to the American public and then would have to answer to the same! They would also have to answer some very serious (and nasty) questions like:

1. How come you lied to us and said that the "War on Terrorism" is so dire that it scared allot of Americans into giving up some of our liberties in exchange for being safe, when you actually was aiding and abetting the same terrorists causing this terrorism?
2. How come you actually aided and abetted and furthered these terrorists' agenda by giving them military support and arms and thus committing war crimes just as atrocious as the jihadists themselves?
3. How come you helped to arm the very terrorists that, if after they actually did accomplish ousting Assad, we would then have to fight to win the "War on Terrorism" that you claim exists, thus fighting against our own weaponry and war strategies?
4. How come you decided to do this which makes us look weak, ineffective and like terrorists ourselves and then not only lie to us about what you're truly doing and your true agenda, but also pitting the rest of the world against us because they think that us Americans actually support and condone these actions? When in truth, most Americans have no clue to this because our mainstream media outlets are owned and directed by the very people who are behind, support and help further this agenda and won't report the real truth and only reports propaganda that the US government/elites wants its people to know?

Of course the jihadists won't/don't run FROM us, because they know who's in bed with them and who their supporters are! And why would you run from them? The jihadists are doing what anyone in their position would do, and that's to accept the support and weapons while still hating them and plotting against them and actually killing them. Why not, if these supporters are stupid enough to help them do it, why look a gift horse in the mouth?

And Putin is doing what anyone in his position would do as well. Why not take advantage to further your own position and agenda while also using this advantage to cast aspersions upon one of your long standing foes/enemies and make them look like weak and ineffective idiots?

NOW do you see what I mean by our government is inept? We have so called "leaders" running this great nation into the ground and ruining what was once a great example to the world on how to be a Republic of, by and for a free people. And We the People are really to blame for all of this because we have become lax in our duty to stand ever vigilant in guarding our freedoms that our forefathers so bravely gave us through much trial and sacrifices and sometimes with their very lives 239 years ago and hold our elected officials accountable for their ineptness and treasonist actions. So, if our great nation becomes no longer relevant on the world's stage, no longer a great beacon of truth, right and a safe haven against tyranny, then we only have ourselves to blame!

Maine Passes Law To Follow The US Constitution

I really find this not only odd, but down right unnecessary and shows us, "We the People" exactly how far gone our government is at ALL levels and has absolutely no idea of what they are doing and has also no comprehension of what the US Constitution and their own state constitutions say or mean!

Don't get me wrong as I think it's a GREAT thing that Maine has finally decided to follow the US Constitution and agree that our 2nd Amendment right to bearing arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED upon! But the very fact that a BILL had to be brought forth, voted on and then passed into law to accomplish this is just mind boggling to me! IMHO...the LAW that restricted it in the 1st place which was UNCONSTITUTIONAL to begin with, should have been removed...PERIOD! Why bring forth yet ANOTHER bill to force our state government to do what they should have been doing ALL ALONG, which is to FOLLOW THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND....the US Constitution? 

WHY do our legislators not get that they do NOT have to write and pass bills giving us, We the People, the right to have the right to bear arms (without infringement) that is ALREADY given us, BY US, through the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution and then additionally strengthened and given to us in our STATE constitution, Article I (Declaration of Rights), Section 16: To keep and bear arms. Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned? I'm glad that our legislators WANT to follow our constitutions and thus providing We the People with what is unalienably our right to possess, but it seems that they need to be educated more that these rights do NOT need to be readdressed legislatively by passing bills and making new law. That instead, it needs to be addressed through REMOVING the unconstitutional law that INFRINGED upon our unalienable right in the first place! Because make no mistake in knowing this, NO LAW PASSED THAT IS CONTRARY TO THE US CONSTITUTION IS LEGAL ANYWAYS*! No law that is in opposition to what is stated in our US Constitution can hold ANY lawfulness...PERIOD! If anyone wants to AMEND ANY constitutional amendment, it CANNOT be done through passing laws in our individual state governments nor through the US Congress. It needs to be PROPOSED either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures with finally being approved by ratification by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States)!

So, this NEW law that was passed by the Maine State legislature was just a colossal waste of time and taxpayer money because this law which essentially corrects/amend an unconstitutional law, really achieves nothing because We the People don't have to obey an unconstitutional law to begin with*. What needs to be done is to actually follow the US Constitution and NOT PASS STUPID UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS IN THE FIRST PLACE!
